How To Be A Good Steward

Can taking care of our planet reflect our faith? If you believe that God put man above all of the animals and that he gave us a beautiful planet to live on, the answer is probably yes. God calls us to be good stewards. This applies to our money, our time, and our belongings. Since the Earth belongs to us all, it is our responsibility to take care of it. You might think that what I am saying is ridiculous, but wouldn’t you want your predecessors to pass on a planet that is usable to you? If we are not good stewards of our planet, our children and grand children will not have a nice healthy place to live.

So you might be asking, what can I do to make a difference? You could start by recycling and by using products that aren’t loaded with chemicals. You could find more natural ways to deal with your health ailments like eating right, exercising, and taking supplements. One of the big problems with all of the prescription drugs people take is they pee them back into our water supply. While they are necessary in some instances, I believe that many of the things people are taking these drugs for can be solved in better ways. You could carpool to work or ride your bicycle to work. There are many ways you can act as a good steward of the Earth.

One thing you may want to consider is getting solar panels for your home. Looking for solar panels for sale is a big initial investment. However, if you take out a loan on your home to do it, your extra payment may be smaller than your electric bill. Also, some states have tax incentives that you can take advantage of. In the long run, this could save you money as electricity rates rise over time. Imagine once you pay off your loan how much money you will save every month by eliminating your electric bill. Plus, fewer pollutants will go into the air from burning coal or other forms of electricity. While this is only an option for you if you own your own home, it is something you may want to consider.

Transportation is another culprit when it comes to pollution. There are lots of great options on the market today that pollute less. Many of these may not be economical for you, but there are things you can do. With all of the Hybrid vehicles, electric cars, high mpg cars, and natural gas cars for sale there are many available options that might be worth looking into. If you live in a warmer climate, you might choose to ride your bicycle to work on nicer days.

It really doesn’t matter if one believes or doesn’t believe in man made global warming. To me, keeping our water and air clean and usable is even more important. God has given us this Earth, and while he doesn’t want us to worship the Earth or anything on it, I believe we are obligated to take care of it and to help our fellow man in need.
